As mentioned - I'm trying not to turn this into an M3 vs. S5 debate; it's been done many times before and there are no winners really at the end; it's all opinionated. Both are excellent cars in their own respect. We're on an Audi Forum, so I respect how most of this discussion will end here.
As for the 'does it feel faster' question, Yes, it does feel faster because it IS a faster car. Does it make it better? It depends on who you ask. The S5 is a fast car but it's not an M3 in this area. I loved the S5 during ownership, however I don't regret getting the M3.. it's a different experience really driving a BMW, it's like you're sampling another fine wine. As for the interior, it grows on you - what more can be said, Audi is better but BMW is not bad and it is well laid out.. anything can be learned if given the chance.
..Now, hopefully someone takes my parts

Never really a thought for me.. I have another vehicle for the winter. I didn't drive the S5 through last year's winter (where we had the 2nd most snow in Toronto history); had it in storage at the dealers for 3 months. I'm sure it's more than capable; I just don't want to chance someone else having a bad day and wrecking my summer car.
But yes, a few of my colleagues have RWD BMWs and there are a few horror stories, this year alone. If you're in an area with a fair bit of snow/ice with an all year round car; I'd pick the S5 hands down.
