Special order colors on the S5

Special order colors on the S5
I was thinking of ordering an S5 cab in sepang blue, and the dealer I have been in contact with just wrote to tell me alternate color options are only available on the A8 and R8. I thought a number of people on this forum have mentioned getting audi exclusive colors. Has there been a policy change for 2012, or is the dealer just mistaken?

It might cost you a few extra bucks and possibly an approval from a regional sales manager but it could be done.

I'm not sure where you're located, but I was considering Sepang Blue when I ordered my A5 earlier this year. It's available as a Special Order Option here in Canada - $1500 just for the ordering fee and another $2000 for the paint job ($3500 total). I couldn't justify that amount no matter how much I loved that color. If it was something a little more reasonable like perhaps $2K total, I probably would have gone for it.

Regional sales manager has no pull with audi on paint colors.
As long as it's offered on some model now, or in the past as a stock paint color, you can pay the $2500 paint charge.
Exclusive colors is a different thing.
It's a special paint that's only available thru the audi exclusive options, and can be a lot more expensive.

I ordered my S5 Cab in Daytona Gray, which is an Audi Exclusive color. It shouldn't be a problem.

People are confusing Audi exclusive colors and special order paint charges.
If you want to paint your regular 2.0T A4 sedan in Srint Blue (a stock S4 color), it's $2500 extra.
But there are some colors that are deemed "exclusive". And you have to go through the Quattro gmbh program.
Some exclusive colors and options can even require a "buy in" price. You've got to pay $1200 just for the privledge of paying $2000-5000 for special paints and trims.

I am not familiar with the fees involved but you can order your Audi painted from the factory in ANY color in the entire VW auto group excluding Lamborghini colors. VW, Audi, Scania, Seat, Suzuki, Bentley, Bugatti, Skoda, Porsche and whoever else they may have purchased this week!
