So I'm out at lunch for a drive and after enjoying some fun with a modded 997TT (just when you think you have a fairly fast car...), I pull off the highway and head back toward the on-ramp in the other direction. Pulling on to it from a dead stop (fairly sharp left turn which becomes an S-curve as it turns onto the highway), I give the car some gas and am very surprised when the car pushes quite a bit going around the initial corner. I nearly braked but easing off the gas a little tucked the nose back in. Approaching the second part of the "S", I continue to push the car and notice more understeer (although not as bad as at lower speed).
Needless to say, I'm surprised given the decent F/R weight balance and rear-biased Quattro system. Anyone else notice this?
BTW, I haven't noticed this on steady state cornering so I'm thinking its still a function of the Quattro more than anything else.
Thoughts??
Regards,
Derek

While the weight distribution is improved from previous Audis, it's not a perfect 50/50, but even if it was, the car is still heavy and tuned to understeer. Did you have ESP on? It makes a huge difference in the car's balance. Give it a try turned off, just be ready for some slip.
