Tach dropping slowly?
Has anyone ever found that their revs drop very slowly usually when the engine is warming up and under somewhat harder acceleration or just brought up to about 4500 - 5000 rpm?
Sometimes when pulling out onto one of my area's main roads you need to accelerate quicker to get up to speed because of traffic/speed of the road and wanting/needing to get to where you are going. I find sometimes that only for the first to second shift my revs drop slowly. Does anyone know the reason for this? Is this a problem or a normal occurrence for anyone else?

You don't mention where you are in the world (indicating climate) nor what engine you are using, but maybe it makes no difference. Are you talking about something different than the engine just naturally idling higher BECAUSE it is still cold and the 'choke' (if these engines have same) is not letting it idle at the normal 800 RPMish? So if the choke is holding the engine at 1,500 RPM when cold, it will not drop from, say 4,500 RPM as quickly as it normally would to get to 800 RPM (presuming you are taking your foot completely off the gas between shifts, of course). I am just 3 weeks with my first Audi but this has been my experience for 50 years of driving.

i recall this happening on my S5, as well as my SVT Cobra. I guess it might be engine management while warming up.
i think it's normal.
