Default Tire experts: question

My A5 will be delivered next month and I'm looking for some summer performance tires. I keep reading where guys are only getting 14-18k miles before replacement. On my current Caddy STS I have the stock tires with 28K and the tread looks almost brand new. I guess I don't understand the discrepancy in tread wear. What should I be looking for to duplicate what I have seen on the Caddy?

Compare the UTGQ "treadware" rating of the tire. The higher the number, the faster it will wear down. For instance, a tire with a rating of 300 will wear 3X faster than a tire with a rating of 100. Here is some more information on this rating.

Hmmm...I think it says the opposite. That the higher the rating the longer the wear

Omelet is right.. a 200 tire lasts twice as long as a 100 tire.

Oups you guys are right - my bad, sorry. You'll notice very high performance tires in the 100-140 range, whereas regular day to day tires between 300-400.
