I wish the 6th gear was an overdrive gear. At 80 mph i'm around 3200 RPM.

i love the Cayman more.
you guys already have a range rover....so keep the Cayman S.
you need something to throw round corners....the S5 is a great car, but won't accomodate that.
i vote Cayman S.

I like the handling and steering feel of the BMW better than the Audi but overall the Audi S5 is better balanced car with nicer interior, design and smooth power.
I am waiting to see how the new BMW 135i coupe compares to the new Audi A5. The 135i will cost a lot less and have power and handling to best the Audi; but it not have the design and interior of the A5. So really will come down to what kind of deal I can score in a few years on a slightly used Audi or BMW. Audis depreciate a lot more than BMW so probably can land a sweet deal on one in few years. I see tons of 2003/2004 Audi A4 for under 20k with low miles whereas used BMW are almost 30k.

Just looking at low mileage (~17k for my purposes) Audi A4 3.0 Quattros and BMW 330i's most of them are within a couple thousand of each other. KBB lists the models with 20k miles trade in values with a $4k difference. I believe the 330i was a bit more expensive when new, so the depreciation doesn't seem dramatically different.

While it would be fun to have brand new car the depreciation makes it foolish to buy any new car.
Unless you are filthy rich or have a business and use the tax break to justify a 50 per cent loss on a car in only few years. I paid 13k for my BMW 3 series with 45k miles and new the same car cost about 40k. Just makes zero sense to waste money unless you are a billionaire.
Heck can get the big home theater, slightly used Audi, a trip to Europe and have money left over for investments for what a brand new Audi costs.

it's bloody brilliant...i enjoyed driving it more than my 911 driving experiences. It's small, tidy, tight, and just plain brilliant to drive.

wrong perception. These guys aren't the new kid on the block. Only we lowly Americans think they are.

I realize no car is perfect and some makers are statistically more reliable than others. But I do know I've had two audis in a row that have been virtually flawless. Maybe just lucky.. but I doubt it.
