Long-time no post..
I'm selling my 2006 S4 125k miles. It has served me well.
I am now on the market for a new one and was deciding between an S4 or an S5. My issue is that I have driven the '13 S4 and S5's and I'm not sure I can do without the V8. I don't care about the fuel economy. I don't care about small differences between HP or torque. The sound during general cruising is night and day.
Right now I'm leaning toward buying a lightly used 2012 S5 (V8) and facelifting it to look like a 2013 myself.
I see that this dude did it perfectly and his result is an S5 that I've been dreaming of.
Question is how much do you think these mods would add up to? Who are the best vendors to use? Has anyone here done this?

I thought I would chime here on the opinion of the front fascia. First, I agree, the V8 is visceral and a delight to listen to and feel. BUT, why make the change on the front? I mean, you will have a front fascia that looks identical to the leased A4 2.0t... Stay with the original, sometimes the newer isn't always the better. Stay true and drive it like you stole it.

After the conversion cost and the additional future lower residual trade in value because the car would be a mongel in the eyes of dealers or future buyers who dont trust what lurks beneath it , the owner of the car in the video would have been better off just buying a preowned facelift V8 RS5 , IMO.

I agree with doubleA4 and inclined ..
You are making a mistake by changing the face of the classic S5 V8. IMO, the old face looks better and more distinct, unique, than the new face of the S5. Just look at all the new face of the A4, A5, S4, S5, A6, from 12-15 feet away - they all look the same. How do I know? Because I saw my dealer park a black A4, A5, A6, S5 on the same line and from afar I could hardly distinguish which is which. You could easily mistake an A4 for an S5. Almost all Audis now has that new face. I can tell you that I'm still getting a lot of compliment on the classic S5 look. Honestly, I don't like the new face of the A4, A5, S4, S5, A6. The only new face that stands out (because of their unique grill) is the RS5 and Allroad, and the A7 Prestige. The rest all look similar. Again, to each his own, since looks are subjective.
But to prove my point, here's a cheaper $38K A4 and the new $65K S5 - huh, they look almost the same! Swap the S5 grill and the A4 looks like an S5. lol. Why don't you just buy the A4, buy the S5 grill, chip the A4 so it will run 0-60 in 5.1 seconds instead of 6.2 and you have the same front face that you love so much and it cost almost $30,000 less. IMO, a $65,000 car should not look like a $38,000 car, but Audi now want their cars to look very similar to each other.
