FWIW I test drove a used 2011 S5 at my Audi dealer before I purchased my 2013 S5. The 2011 had brand new Conti DWS tires on it, installed by the dealer.

I run 18" wheels with DWS in the winter and 19" wheels with Dunlop Sport Maxx GT during the summer and don't experience vibration or "incompatibility with quattro" with either set. As Tifosi implied, A/S tires make compromises in performance, but there is no reason to be concerned about vibration or problems with the AWD system when using A/S tires.

I think it's the opposite of what your service advisor told you. All-season tires always last longer than sport tires. They are also quieter and cheaper too. Good that you came here to verify.

Just a point of clarification, what you call all-season tires can be accurately labeled as no-season tires. Summer tires work best above 40° and winter tires work best below 80°. Buy a set of wheels for the winter tires.
As far as replacing a damaged wheel, have it repaired. Try http://www.wheelcollision.com . I have used them and they are reasonably priced and do great work.

I went ahead and ordered the conti dws from tire rack for $1020 shipped. i also ordered a refurbished wheel from originalwheels.com for $380 shipped.
I had a terrible experience at audi tysons corner service center today.
I understand dealers being more expensive for audi parts and audi trained mechanics, but how can they justify ripping people off on 3rd party products?
service guy: the conti dws are $305 each and i dont know how long it will take to get them in stock.
me: they are $243 on tire rack and i can get them in 2 days.
service guy: our price includes road hazard insurance
me: tire racks price include road hazard insurance.
service guy: only michelin offers road hazard insurance, no one else does.
me: (i showed him tire rack website where it says the conti dws comes with road hazard insurance)
service guy: oh, well you know, we can order it for you from tire rack too.
I couldnt believe it. What a rip off. Needless to say, I didnt take him on the offer.
