I'm not a huge fan of chrome wheels, also because out here they live on Escalades, Yukons and (gulp) Mercedes'.

Knock on wood.....I've had my German plate on for a month without even a glance from the police. One even smiled at it when I passed him while directing traffic. Can't beat the look though. Stay out of that town and keep it on. How much was the ticket?

run no more than 15.00 or so. I'm most concerned with having to sit on the side of the road for 30-40 min again while they verify that my car is not a stolen car from Europe. I live in a relatively small city (40,000 population where I got my citation)and unfortunately it's likely I will be passing one of those three cop cars again soon ![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Sucks because I love the EU plates.

Unfortunately, the friendlies and the Farvas have an equal amount of power, which allows for unpleasant (or downright unfair and unjust) encounters.
It's not that it was inappropriate for them to stop you - it is the law to run front plates, after all - but it sounds like they overreacted with the number of officers and the attitude. I have the N.A. panel WITH the license plate on it in my trunk, so I can do the swap quickly and easily (to avoid the ticket, for example, or to avoid getting hassled in high-patrol times).

..all the morons with guns in their glove boxes. I've noticed during the last few years CHP has been pulling over speeders using two cruisers. The strength in numbers will help prevent a shooting and drive away event.
On the bad side they're creating a spectacle of us because when people drive by they're like "holy cow that guy must be in big trouble" when it's just a traffic violation. But the cops ARE profiling and concerned about their safety and I don't blame them for that.
Ultimately in many ways we're paying the price for decades of easy to get gun mentality. And it will only get worse. Thanks to our retarded politicians.

The requirement is that you display a registration receipt tag on the front passenger side bottom corner until your plates arrive.
You can run with Dealer Vanity plates or no plate at all unitl your proper plates (yes that's with an s as in 2) come in the mail. Usually a month or two later. Nobody gives a second look. About 40% of Cali drivers don't display a front plate either and only mount the rear one.
It's usually quiet upscale communities that get **** about that kind of stuff, ie Orange Co. or Santa Clara Co. or SF.
