You would need all the hardware of ADS. Vag-Com can't give you that.

according to this thread for 2 of the ads options you dont need the hardware
(engine and steering)

This is pretty advanced Vag-Com stuff and can be risky. Fooling around in there can screw up your car if you don't know what you're doing. Besides, in Sport mode on the shifter it will give you the same result on the transmission gear mapping and engine throttle mapping pieces as ADS. Lots of other well documented stuff to do first if you're a beginner. Just saying'.

very true about putting it in sport mode instead.......... i notice a huge difference......i think using the ads would make the steering tighter though no?

anyway youre right and i dont think its worth the risk considering dynamic is probably sport mode anyway

Couple thoughts for you:

1. Buy the cable. It will pay for itself in a couple years once your car starts throwing CELs every month...:-) I could not imagine owning an Audi without a VAG cable. Ross-tech is great - support them.

2. I would go VERY slow when messing around in the ECU. If you stay in the safe areas there is a ton you can do. Once you get outside of this you can screw things up pretty good. It is not as complicated as it sounds - actually pretty simple just don't start changing values for blocs you don't understand.

2. In my 2011 S5 I the difference between dynamic and sport on the steering is hugely noticeable. Difference from an engine point of view is negligible (standard).

Sounds like a sweet car!

If you're just cruising the freeway leisurely on a Sunday drive with the family, Auto or Comfort will do.

If you're in a hurry and want to overtake other cars and you're in the mood for a sprint, damn - put it in Sports mode and stomp on the gas.
