i went to the dealer today
asked the parts dept to look up the part # for me and he told me he needed a VIN #

i wanted to explain to him how stupid that was ..BUT
i told him ..no problem.. ill be back w one

is there not enough incentive for them to provide better service?

geez

i know the 5 spoke 18 in the winter wheel accessory brochure is 18x8 but that doesn't list the ET either

That is the correct wheel but 8" wheel with an et47 sounds super weak. That may be the version specd for an A4.

This wheel is in the brochure as an option for the Cabriolet as part of a sport package and I know this wheel was on the 2011 A5 Coupe as standard on P-plus and Prestige. the standard A5 rim is 18x8.5 with a 29 offset. I imagine this would be the same. It wouldn't be narrower on a sport package.

i was at the dealer for an oil change and figured they could help.
i went to parts dept and asked the rep.

in one sentence i asked "interested in buying these wheels can u tell me the price and size specs so i know they can fit...i dont have a P/N but would love it if u could give that to me..heres a pic.

purposely stated this way^... price (so the guy would know im interested in buying them not just doing a school report or something)... size specs (so he would know im interested in fitting them on my car)

he resorted to a reply that i feel he has used a 1000 times before...

"i would need a VIN #"

i dont know what i was thinking... who do i think i am ...i mean who am i to expect to go to a dealer and have them actually be able to know what they have for sale and maybe actually have me give them money... i mean they r in the winter wheel brochure right behind me

i chose not to share w him my view on how dumb that reply was but i did not feel optimistic on being received well so i just told him i would be back w a VIN # on my next visit.

i walked the lot but they didnt even have an A5 w the wheels.

i still want the info on specs and will get a VIN eventually.. i know the specs on the 19s are 8.5 ET32 would audi make the 18s w a more aggressive ET?? if yes unfortunately for me 8.5 w ET29 is too aggressive n im hoping for something diff.. we will see

I know a very knowledgable sales person at a dealer. Im sure he can get this part number. Should have this for you tomorrow. Its ridiculous how hard this is to attain from the dealer.

Those are 8T0 601 025 S and 29mm offset, 8.5x18 with 5/112 bolt pattern, same as almost every other Audi. Option code C3A.

Like you guys said, "need a vin" is almost an automated response. But in this case totally unnecessary as there was even a (crappy) picture in Etka on this wheel to confirm it matches the good picture you provided. Knowing it was from an A5 was all I needed to find it. In the parts guys defense, since I am one also, it makes finding the wheel faster and would provide the parts person you are talking to the confidence in pricing out the correct wheel. Even if I don't know which wheel exactly that I'm pricing I price all the options. I've found if I have 2 or 3 choices they are sometimes very close so I can at least get in the ball park. It's more helpful than having you turn away with nothing.

That wheel is 550.00 retail, and 481.25 dollars from us. Thanks for listening to my mini-rant above. I feel bad having to ask for a vin sometimes for things that you wouldn't think need it. There are many things that have vin splits. Having the vin eliminates the need to look up for example a shift slider with magnet for an Audi Allroad for both parts in the before and after vin category. I look at it like in the time it takes the customer to go find their vin #, I could have looked up both prices and at least they know how much the part will cost.

We are here to help out where we can. Any questions please ask. Thanks, Jeff.
