I live on Oahu with one Audi dealer in the state and typically very limited inventory options. My last two Audi's I bought on the mainland and shipped over for $1,000 each and still came out ahead vs what the local dealer charges.
1) What should I expect to pay as a premium to order compared to a model sitting on the showroom floor? I would think dealers are more motivated to move what they're sitting on.
2) Under normal circumstances how long does it take to get a car once you've placed the order? I need it no later than April 1, 2008.

Estimates:
Orders in August for late Nov-Dec delivery.
No premium to order but who knows what the economy will be like next year. By April, it could be that people aren't buying cars and there are S5s littering the dealerships for some good discounts. OR maybe S5s are selling so well that you'll end up paying MSRP as a minimum. Time will tell.

When you order an Audi, do you negotiate price right THEN or do you negotiate when the car hits the dealer?
Having the dealer try to screw me over when the car hits the floor would make me walk away in a hot second.

the car hits the dealer. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to get $1000 off MSRP, dependent on how good of a relationship that you have with the dealer. Definitely no invoice deals though, unless you have some really good connections.

however there is a new, more convenient dealer that i may go with, and if they offer me the same 1500 off, i'l be going to them from now on.

Unless Audi finally decides to adjust for the strong CAD/weak US dollar.
94k CAD base MSRP here vs 70.5k CAD for an RS4 bought in the US, what a joke. With a 1500 discount one is still overpaying by 22k.
Same BS with the S4. 70.4 CAD(yes, that's US RS4 pricing!) vs just under 51k CAD base price South of the border.
Anxiously awaiting North American pricing on the S5, as are BMW dealerships I imagine.

is available at the same. 90 Days out puts it into DEC. The main question that I have is does this mean DEC 2 or DEC 31? Waiting is not fun.

allocations at that time... 14-16 weeks for delivery here(SEast USA), VIN is booked/trackable in 30-45days from allocation submission. Initial pricing is ~$1,000 over a comperable S4, more options so probably will top out a good bit higher... think all this is common knowledge though. This may finally be an worhty successor for me, hopeful pricing will be agreeable.
These guys went to the kickoff in Spain so I'm hoping they are accurate.
