Uhhh, why are you comparing an M3 to an S5?...
The S5 is a 335 competitor. The forthcoming RS5 (rumored to get 450 to 500hp) will be the M3 competitor.
I know you're just looking for a more powerful machine, but to blame an Audi model for not being as powerful as a higher positioned (and much more expensive) BMW model doesn't make sense.
If you want the power of a 70K luxury sports car, then GET a 70k luxury sports car, and not one that costs 10K less and complain about it.
BTW the S5 is an amazing deal for the money. Similarly configured, it actually costs less than a 335xi and you get more power, better AWD, more luxury, better Nav, better looks, and more exclusivity.
