Default I think it sucks that on a M3 you need to pay extra for 19" wheels...

BS. Nevertheless that jacka$$ market adjustment.

Default Yep. Facts....

- S5 with Tech package and Nav options. Standard features include Leather Sports seats, Premium Package, sports suspension and 19" wheels. MSRP: $55,340

- 335xi with Premium Package & Nav option. Leather, iPod, Sirius, Heated front seats, Park distance, 19" wheels added to match standard S5 features. MSRP: $56,065

Adding the B&O to the S5 will bring its MSRP to about $100 over the 335xi, but for that you get a considerably superior audio system to the BMW. There is no Audio upgrade for the 335.

You can get the the BMW to cost less than the S5 if you skimp on options though. That's because the lower volume S5 has a much simplified options list.

Apples-to-apples, the S5 costs less than the 335.

Default What will your BMW dealer give you on it towards an M3?

You'll get hit, but not terribly since the S5's are in demand. You can always put it on ebay or AutoTrader and do well. You should get very close to MSRP. I saw a new one in AutoWeek for MSRP + $5K. I understand your plight. My issue's different - I am trading in my S4 with 1300 miles - following successful repair of my transmission. I worked closely with my dealer and AoA to get a satisfactory solution - I probably would have gone with a 335xi, but Audi of America made it worthwhile for me to stick with a new Audi - I've got a TT roadster S-line on order. Power is not my issue, as it is yours. Good luck. The M3 is a great car from what I understand.

Default Because he decided he just doesn't want the S5 ..

what's so hard to understand about that. I can't debate you on your issues, but I understand where he's coming from. When you sour on a car, for whatever reason, you need to switch it out and get something you really want.

Default $97K for a 3-series??? buy a porsche, Aston Martin. +my science experiment!

might as well spend $25K more and get an Aston Martin. or a twin-turbo porsche. or just spend $80K and get a Carrerra C4S. really, a C4S for less than the M3...!

$97K for a f*cking 3-series? irrespective of the prefix letter preceding the "3" falling in the alphabet between L and N, is ridiculous.

Performance is one thing, but 3-series', in general, are a DIME-A-DOZEN. $97K for a dime-a-dozen? i know, i know, i am being a bit superfluous, but seriously...

....a month ago, my not-so-scientific experiment, while i was deciding between a 335i and the A5: At my gym, in Uptown(very upscale urban area) Dallas, i ran on the treadmill for 1 hour, and counted the # of BMWs, Audis and Mercedes that went by:

*87 BMW's (late-model, only considering last two body styles in any model), incl 45+ 3-series, including numerous M3's
*16 Audi's (zero A5/S5')
*38 Mercedes
...and also numerous porsche's - i'm guessing a dozen although i didn't keep count.

FWIW

I don't know, BMW with 20K miles on it feels like a 747 going through turbulence, with all the overhead storage bins sqeeking.

Default $97k is apparantly a good deal. Try $100k. I'll wait for my S5.
