Ah, yes, that would make sense. I’d managed to disable that “feature” on our now gone B8.5 allroad. For the life of me I can’t recall how though.

When I put the car in reverse and move while other cars are moving behind me the car automatically fully brakes. I guess it's called collision avoidance system. There is no chance I can reverse unless the road is completely empty behind me.
Its apparently a feature. The only way to stop it is to press the camera/sensor button but it disactivates all sensors and camera.

My RS5 SB reverses just fine. It did prevent me from backing out in front of someone shooting through a parking, but that was a good thing. Otherwise, it's not an issue. Check your settings in the MMI. If everything is configured correctly, take it to the dealer.

It is a safety, feature doubt there is a way to fully shut it down short of disabling the camera and the radar/proximity sensors in the bumper. It can be sometimes be jarring when triggered specially when someone suddenly runs by behind the car,. Personally, I'd rather put up with it occasionally than to have to deal with the medical, legal and insurance issues. In US backing into something or someone is a driver fault period. If you really don't want it perhaps an Audi for the Indian or some other market may not have the feature.

Turning the traction control to sport or off does disable a bunch of the presense features, so it may or may not disable this but is pretty easy to toggle when you need it.

so i saw this in a thread about an older s3, has anyone seen if this is a setting on the b9 and if it makes any difference?

[Direct Acceleration - Throttle response]
With this mod, you can change the behavior of the accelerator. Option B provides a more linear acceleration without sudden deliveries.
1 - Module 44 - Power steering. Code (19249)
2 - Adaptation
3 - Select - switching driving profile
Choices :
A - Gradual, controlled by time
B - Directly controlled threshold value

Buy an RS5!

Even with an S5, the RS5 dash / splash screen is unavailable.

Very funny.

There is such an opportunity, I saw it on several machines, if you don't know, you can simply not answer
