I think its the Adaptation that requires open hoods and the others dont.

I think you're correct, especially for OBD11 Gen. 2, the changes that require credits don't need the hood open. I set the blinker to 3 blinks per 1 flick of the stalk w/o the hood open and it worked. No need to buy anymore blinker fluid.

I was going to say the same exact thing. I enabled the heartbeat welcome sound about a week ago and can confirm that, at least for me, it only plays about 50% of the time. If Audi enabled this feature by default, many more people would experience this erratic behavior and probably end up taking their car in, claiming there's an issue and creating more run around for Audi and the vehicle owner. So I imagine they just figured it was easier to disable it, altogether

My heartbeat sound is 100% consistent.
I just have NO volume control anywhere I can find in the MMI.
Maybe that's the difference?
With all the problems I am hearing, maybe I should avoid trying to enable a menu option - LOL

As of yesterday no, but I will try to reset the MMI.
I don't think I'll get to it today...
I had treatment yesterday and feel like literal $hit..... LOL

- Unlock car.
- Open driver's door.
- Open hood.
- Perform and commit changes in OBD11.
- Exit car and close hood.
Is that correct? Anything else? Is there something about exiting the car, locking it, pondering life for a few minutes, then get back in and turn on the engine? Do you have to reset the MMI every time? Does the hood thing apply to Adaptations and Long Coding, or just one or the other?
Many thanks to everyone who has contributed to the wealth of knowledge contained in this thread and on the Google doc. I'm sorry if the answers to my questions here are contained above. I've read all the posts, but there's no doubt I've missed some things along the way.

Where does opening the hood fit into the workflow? I've had success with most of the things I wanted to do from the Google doc, but not with a few. I'm in a 2019, so maybe it's the hood not being open, or not being opened at the right spot in the sequence. Is this basically it:
