From the Audi Canada website, 40 TFSI engine shows Regular Unleaded when used on the A3 and Q5. Weird though that when used on an A4 it shows Premium - that may just be a typo then.

you just bought a brand new car.... shouldn't the dealership that sold you this car be able to help? I would ask them the question and see what they say....

What's a dealership going to do? They know nothing except what they are told. The information comes from AoA. I've asked AoA to review their published information; we'll see how long that takes. As mentioned, the EPA application for the Q5 "40" is not found, so cannot see what fuel they documented there.

EA888 Gen4 refers specifically to the mild hybrid equipped engines. The Gen3 was rated at 188hp (b-cycle) and 248hp (evo). The Gen4 is rated at 201hp (b-cycle) and 261hp (evo). Torque is unchanged with the update, same 236 ft-lbs for b-cycle and 273 ft-lbs for evo.

That extra hp does not come from the 12v MHEV system. The e-motor in that system produces a peak torque of only 5.3 ft-lbs and a peak horsepower of only 1.7 bhp (1.5 ft-lbs @ 6k rpm). This in contrast to the 48v MHEV system on the Gen4 in the A3, that produces a peak torque of 46 ft-lbs @ 250 rpm and peak horsepower of 12.6 bhp (24 ft-lbs @ 2750 rpm). So the Gen4 hp bump was almost entirely in the ICE tuning, it would appear.

i get where you are coming from. the dealership in my mind can help make your delivery and customer experience whole by telling you which gas is recommended for your vehicle. if there is conflicting information, they can escalate much easier than you can and get you an answer. or in the meantime you can continue to complain and now put in $5 a gallon premium fuel. I feed my Q7 whatever I want in regards to gas octane mainly because it is not tuned regardless of the fact that a minimum AKI octane rating of 91 is recommended. I have driven 9000+ miles in 4 months on anything from 87 to 93 octane and it has ran just as great as the day I took delivery of it. these are not race cars running on a knife's edge in terms of reliability, they are consumer vehicles.

AoA came back with a conclusion. As expected, the fuel requirement on the new Q5 40 crossover materials was incorrect. It should be Premium, same as the A4 40 sedan and A5 40 sportback.

thank you. I asked the service department, but wasn’t too convinced they know what they are talking about.

What does the label at the fuel door say? When I had a Q3 loaner, service advisor said I only needed to refill with regular and that's what was imprinted on the fuel door label.

That's a Q3, which like the A3, only requires regular. As noted earlier in this thread, quite detuned compared to these B vehicles.
