That is my plan also. Do wife's Q5 then the RS5 on the way to work tomorrow AM. We'll see how it goes. I too downloaded 2020 maps as my car is a 2019 and probably has 2018/2019 maps. Will check in AM in MMI.

For all of you who downloaded the files on your computer, at least on Windows, the installer does a very bad job at freeing up disk space once it's done. There's probably ~12gbs of temporary map data sitting on your hard drive, which you can freely delete. This is separate from the files that ended up at your target folder.
You can run the Windows utility 'disk cleanup' to find and delete them, if you're not familiar with finding your Windows temp directory.

I was going to do the SD card JAVA based update on my 2018 S5 but on the MMI menus I managed to do an online over-the-air
map update for California/Nevada even though I don't have a current subscription for the online data ...
So give the build-in OTA update a try before going the SD card route

As posted before, the OTA update limits you to a few states and its fairly slow. The SD card/USB is the best option.

Update...success on both cars with 2020 Maps loaded. Took about 20 mins each. Only thing I encountered is initial download I attempted on my new Macbook Air and while it seemed to copy correctly onto old 16 GB mini SD card...when I put it in the SD adapter and tried to install in SD1 in my RS5; the car said "no files found." Would not load or recognize. Next day re-formated the same mini-SD on my Windows based laptop this time and then re-downloaded the files and tried and viola SUCESS! Bad file download or maybe wiping disk properly FA32 on the WIn based system helped. Just SA for those who may try next....one system [windows based was most familiar to me BTW] may easier than the other.

The storage device needs to be formatted to FAT32 for it to work properly.
