My dealer service dept. told me that Audi is launching a new site in about 6 months, where we can download new maps and the next update is around May 2021. I will take that with healthy bite of salt, knowing Audi. My car was in for the annual service and I had asked them to update the map if there is a new version available.

Edit: you can get the full TSB in post 248 above.

2. So, we can only update the Maps?. What about the code that runs the MMI itself?
On the 2014 Acura MDX ... when we loaded the yearly DVD to update the Maps, it would also upgrade the firmware in the NAV/HVAC head-unit itself (if needed to bring-up to current version). For example, right after we got it, there was a glitch in Heated-Seats Control. They fixed it for us with an updated firmware from a flash-drive. However, other owners got the same new firmware later that year when they installed that's years Maps-DVD.

MMX2Q = newer MIB2 with the Qualcomm chip
1316 = MMI version for NA, which BTW the latest version for the Qualcomm units
Don't expect any more MMI firmware versions to be released because Audi already consider the MIB2 end of life.

The way Audi packages software is slightly different. If they wanted, they could update the entire car (MMI, VC, all modules) and maps and everything together. You will see the software package allows for that.
However they only include certain bits in a package, hence why all the Y and N listed in an update package.
My guess is so that they can maintain the model agnostics for a map update. Remember I said that map updates aren't even specific to Audi, you can use the same map update across the entire VW group.

MMI Factory Software On Delivery = 1320
I was one of the few members who never had any problems with the “overhead view” not sticking. However, I do not remember any members who did receive updated software from their dealers to correct t the problem to have 1320 as their updated version.

So, newer, but still MIB2 (and not MIB2+)
2. Cool
3. That is fine. Just working and bug-fixes and I'll be happy for 3 years.
Really appreciate your reply. I like knowing this stuff.
Also, it looks like I am getting ready to buy a 2021 A4 or A5 with MIB3.
