1. If they wanted, they could update the entire car (MMI, VC, all modules) and maps and everything together. You will see the software package allows for that.
2. However they only include certain bits in a package, hence why all the Y and N listed in an update package.
3. My guess is so that they can maintain the model agnostics for a map update. Remember I said that map updates aren't even specific to Audi, you can use the same map update across the entire VW group.
1. Via Online Software Update, just like the Maps, right?
I wonder where all those other module versions are listed? Maybe in the Green-Screen-Menus ?
2. Right. Likely one Universal Updater for North American vehicles (for example).
My dealer told me they would update my maps for 200 or go online for free, however there is no online portal for the maps, unless I am missing something. I saw in a previous post that the portal was coming back in 2021?!
So you guys are saying you can't find a single website in the US that allows for either VW, Audi, SEAT, Porsche etc maps to be downloaded? As I said before, the brand variant doesn't matter for the map updates
I've read through the thread and have seen the message from Audi on updating my 2019 RD5 SB via Audi MMI OTA updates.
Previously you were able to download the entire North America map updates to your computer and update via an SD card. You were limited to 5 updates I believe.
Now you must do map updates via OTA only. There is an issue however. You are only able to update states or regions and after 5 updates MMI tells you you have reached the update max.
A 5 update limit when you could update NA was reasonable. But a 5 update limit when you must update by state/region is ridiculous.
I called the Audi Customer Experience 1-800 number and they provided no help.
Very disappointed in Audi's sloppy approach. When they changed the update process they should have eliminated the update limit or it's impossible to update more than 20% of so of the US.
And Bruce Miranda I can find no website that provides map updates from any of the VW family. If you find one please share.
So, after visiting my Audi Service Center this morning, having them run the TSB listed & making an appointment to have the update installed, I just received this email:
Coincidence, I don’t think so, but it’s certainly worth the trip to find out IF your car is able to be upgraded!
Thanks to the members who alerted us to this upgrade! It’s what makes AudiWorld the great place it is.
I called my service department and this software update doesn't show up for my 2018 Q7's VIN, hopefully it's just a matter of time.
Check your version of MMI software as shown on the screen shot below:
As Bruce Miranda noted in a post on the previous page, the important field is the “Media Driver Version” and the field contains the “MMX2Q” version. This means the MMI hardware in your car is using the Qualcomm chip and can display the new GoogleEarth visuals.

So if we have that version we need the software update applied by the dealer? Or if I understand correctly, '19 model year cars don't have the 12/31/2020 issue...
What might be good to see is the actual MMI version that the car is taken to, that allows Google maps to still work beyond the end of the year.
I have a May 2018 built car, which was updated in the UK to 1329. At that time cars in the US were being update to 1316. I'm following this thread because it was only via the US folks on here that I realised there was a MMI version 1316 that fixed and issue. And it was only when I showed that TSB to the dealers in the UK, did they upgrade me to 1329.
So does the US 1320 have the Google fix or is the Google fix in an MMI version different from both 1316 and 1320.
