Looking through the current TSB's I found this Sept 3 explanation of the plan for updates, based upon MIB versions.

I guess MIB2+ is the MIB2 system with the Qualcomm processor.

So I spoke with Audi and the issue is that the 2.5 years of free map updates start from the first day of the car’s production month, not the in service date. My car was built in July 2018. So even though it was a brand new car when I bought it earlier this month, July 2018 - December 2020 is 2.5 years therefore I have no free map updates beyond the most recent 2020/2021 update.

Even for cars that sell relatively quickly, production date is going to be two months earlier than delivery date, so it's another way for Audi to screw the customer. I purchased my 2019 in February of 2019, but it was produced 10/18 and arrived at the dealer in January, so even in a normal case the promised 2.5 years of updates becomes barely more than 2.

I’m in the same boat. Bought our RS5 in December 2019. Think I saw somewhere it has an early 2019 build date (not 100% certain). Even so, I can’t seem to update any regions via OTA. Get to 1% then nothing. Probably going to go back to using CarPlay anyway...

I respect the bother this causes many of us. It's not my issue, as I just prefer CarPlay over the OEM system (especially with wireless CarPlay!). That said, this new (to me) piece of info on when the 2.5 years begins to run sounds like fodder for the plaintiffs' class action industry; I haven't read the fine print but it sounds quite deceptive.

Off topic, but I'm curious where one can look through TSBs. Is there a repository available to the public, or does access require a fee or an inside connection?

If you bring up your Red Engineering menu and look at the last 2 chars in the map FEC code you can work out how many free updates you have left.

In terms of TSBs, if you take a ElsaWin subscription you can get all the information for your car's VIN.

I just look at the NHTSA site, put in my A5 and you can see recalls but also manufacturer communications (TSB's). Always informative. Scroll down to Manufacturer Communications.
