I’m guessing if you elect (for $700) to have your dealer do the latest upgrade, when they connect to the mothership, they do the USA map files download from the German servers.

I think that's correct. For ONE update. Sheesh.

Posts #91, #92 appears to suggest that the newer maps (EU, ROW) can be installed in B9 MHI2 MMI. Poster has MIB installed see his/her previous posts.. Also see post #85 for links to EU and ROW downloads.

Two curiosity questions -
1. Does the patch_ifs_root_aio have to run separately after MIB install? I was under the impression is run automatically with the initial install.
2. What happens to the FEC 023100ee and new map if the MIB is uninstalled? Are they gone too?

A1: Yes is is separate after MIB install. MIB installs and then from the green menu you always backup, then do the patch install, which also runs a backup.
A2: I have not uninstalled yet, but I believe that the MIB link from the launcher is removed only and 023100ee stays. I will uninstall later this week and see if I can arrange the screen shots I took,

Thanks for the clarifications. Truly appreciated. If you do fully uninstall using the uninstall function let us know your findings. Also, if you reinstall again may I bother you to take screen shots of each of the steps during the install process/ It will help us procrastinators, and me the chicken greatly.

A1: 100% correct
A2: Uninstall will just remove the symlink, which is making M.I.B available in GEM. Installing M.I.B again will be the same process as before.

Well, this chicken finally did it, installed the MIB. Installation went smoothly and quite quickly. However the AIO patch did not take. There were three choices 1) All-in-one, 2) Add FEC codes; 3) Carplay and Android autio. I chose option 2. Looked like it went through but the FEC code ending with ee did not not get added. I have the correct patch folder for my MMI version in the patches folder. Do I need to extract the contents of the MHI2Q...patch folder there for it work? See attached folder structure.

BTW lots of screens scroll by during the installation process too quick to take screenshots. Only way to grab the whole show would be to video it. Few observations - once it was all done after the last MMI start the map showed up I had the map on the MMI before the process start. Once the back up starts at the bottom of the screen it says wait until you see All done on the screen - I waited and waited for the message - then realized I needed to scroll down to the next screen to see it.

Why not choose option 1) AIO patch
It is ententionally the 1st option in GEM.
Why choose some submenu options as your 1st choice?

You could also read and follow the wiki:
https://github.com/Mr-MIBonk/M.I.B._...do-stuff-smirk

--> Your unit is not patched so far. You just changed some coding, but the required FECs are still missing/not working due to missing patch.

There is also a new M.I.B version available on GitHUB
