I'll respectfully disagree and say they just reallocated costs throughout the refresh. Everything seems more solid in the B9.5 and it's definitely quieter (more sound deadening? Who knows), B&O sounds better, etc. It's a give and take IMO. Both B9 and B9.5 are great, but it comes down to what things you value more than others...if piano black console is a deal breaker, I can understand that.

Yes this is a real thing, but quite rare if you look at all the members and their experiences. Every engine design seems has its own particular weaknesses, and I wouldn't shy away from a purchase just because of the rocker arms. Note that I'm driving a 2018 myself with the old rocker arm P/N.

'Saving' 20% for 4 years of depreciation is HORRIBLE... don't do this!

I had a '19 S5 and now a '22.... I love my '22 even more; most of my gripes were addressed (throttle/transmission lag, MUCH better infotainment w/wireless Android & also road composure whatever the reason, no more rattles in the hatch area in cold temperatures).

The ONLY thing I preferred in my '19 was the center console in brushed aluminium instead of piano black, that's it. I disagree totally with people who believe that '19 was the best. No more flat bottom steering? 2 minutes later and I barely noticed.

And add to the cost ~ $1k for each year of an extended warranty you would get ( 4 years ) with a 2023.

Am I right that the base wheels on the prestige back in 2019 were 18" vs the 19" they have now?

Is there anything I would be missing by getting a 2019 prestige vs the 2023 premium plus? (For example, I think I need to get a 2019 prestige because the premium plus trim in 2019 didn't come with the surround camera.)
Nothing that you would use on an everyday basis. It depends on your circumstance really. I bought a CPO '19 Prestige for a killer price and saved me over $20k from buying new. The CPO warranty adds 2yrs/50k miles onto your existing warranty if there is any left. I got a total of 32 months/60k out of my warranty if I am projecting my usage of the car over the next few months. If the CPO has AudiCare, that's an even bigger plus. The spark plugs need changed at 40k so AudiCare would take care of that. My dealer quoted me $2300 for the job; glad the previous owner bought it... GLWP

Christ, that seems like a lot. I just had the spark plugs changed on my Ford Focus RS as part of the 60K service and the *total* cost of that service was, like, $800.

That's possible, though I haven't driven the B9.5 enough to notice the difference in noise. I did have multiple B9.5 loaners and the changes to the interior bothered me enough that I would not be happy moving from a B9 to B9.5. However, owners moving directly to a B9.5 would probably be less bothered.

BUT... why?? That job is nowhere near a $2300 job. Had to be more than just spark plugs

I get it, it's all personal preference. Having owned and spent enough time in both, I'm very happy with the changes to the B9.5. That being said, I would never discourage anyone from purchasing a B9 (obviously).
