Default 2022 RS5 changes

2022 RS 5 Coupe / Sportback
For 2022, the 444-horsepower RS 5 Coupe and Sportback return for 2022 with several new packages that include design enhancements, and hardware upgrades. The “RS design” package introduces front safety belts with red edging, RS logo floor mats with red edging, and an Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, shift lever, and center console. An available new Audi exclusive Bronze Styling package includes black Audi rings and badges, matte carbon exterior front spoiler and rear diffuser trim, RS carbon matte inlays, matte carbon exterior side mirror housings, Audi exclusive Bronze stitch interior package, and 20-inch 5-arm-peak design wheels milled-cut with a bronze finish and wrapped in 275/30 summer performance tires. A performance-oriented Dynamic plus package introduces a 174 mph top track speed limiter, carbon engine cover, gray brake calipers, and ceramic front brakes.

Rest of the RS lineup changes can be found here.

Thanks for the solid info. Looks like the 22 options are mostly 21 launch edition items that you can get in smaller packages. Only thing I need to retrofit for my 21 on the water as we speak is a flat bottom steering wheel.

Canada and Europe have had the RS Design package and Bronze Styling package on the facelifted models since last year.

I wonder if the new flat bottomed steering wheel with hands on detection for the will carry over to the RS 5 and if it will be heated. The new Golf R has a heated flat bottomed steering wheel with hands on detection.

Anyone have a close up of the wheels on the Bronze Styling package?

You can see them on the European or Canadian websites. They're the same as the diamond cut wheels on the current RS5 except they're bronze color.

The 2022 model will get a round alcantara steering wheel if you choose the RS interior design package, and the premium package. Unfortunately having a round wheel is the only way to get hands on detection and active lane assist. It's better than nothing I suppose...too bad they don't just use the same flat bottom wheel in alcantara from the RS6/7.

I'm surprised they didn't. Maybe with all the supply chain issues they want to make sure they have enough so Audi is only putting it on the RS6/7 cars.

I honestly think they just want to stick to the same round steering wheel with the hexagonal airbag cover. The only difference now is whether you choose the RS interior design package or not, if you do they just clad it in alcantara but it's still the same wheel. In the 2022 order sheets there is no mention of a flat bottom on any trim.

You're right that it may be supply chain related, or that they just want a nicer wheel option for the high tier RS models.

Here is the only option we are getting...it's the same steering wheel (round only) either in leather, or in alcantara like this if you get the RS Interior Design package...annoying.
