8W production commenced in CY15, actually, for MY16. There were no US spec MY16 8Ws. US spec A4 during MY16 production run were all 8K builds. It's simple enough to see Audi runs a production year (model year) starting somewhere in May-July of the year before until Mar-May of the year of. There are times where it changes, often with something new starting in Oct or Nov, but once the ball is rolling, the previous is the normal sequence.

It's fine to refer to calendar events by calendar year, but always refer to the vehicles by what they are, by model year, as identified by their VIN. Will there be MY25 B10 in EU? Certainly. Will that be in CY24 or not till CY25? Late CY24 seems likely. Will there be MY25 B10 in NAR? Who knows. If they don't start making them till CY25, they might well call them MY26.

So calendar year if you're talking dates. Model year if you're talking vehicles.

I wanted to add this here for anyone that is curious. Someone of the FB groups posted this low res image they took of a B10 RS5 Sportback in the US doing some testing (in Colorado I believe). I've seen a lot of B10 RS5 Avant's but this is the first Sportback image I've come across.

After working on Volvo Mild hybrids, leasing a first gen Volvo BEV, and dealing with MHEV/PHEV failures at the dealership, I purposely bought a 2024 S5 because I do not want to deal with a first gen model with MHEV. I have seen too many issues with first gen cars throughout my career and I will never own one again. Once my wife's BEV lease is up in November, I will be buying her a 2024 S3 or a preowned Volvo XC40 T5. Never will i own this hybrid or electric crap again.

For clarification, the first B9 models were sold in the US in the spring of 2016 as a MY17. At this point, it's apparent that the B10 will not be sold in the US until at least early 2025, likely as a MY26 model, meaning that the B9 generation will run for nine years.

When i ordered my car from MAS/Audi in March of this year i had a deadline of 29 March to place my order for a 2024 model otherwise I would have to order a 2025.

Not sure if the 2025 will be a B9.5 and then 2026 will be MHEV.

Funny how people like different things, but good that you remain inquisitive on Audi and the new B10, even if it is unlikely to appear on your shopping list.
I hope that the B10 will surprise me, but I've grown disillusioned with Audi after having previously owned B8 and B9 generation vehicles for more than 10 years. Between instability in leadership and the bumpy transitions to EVs, IMO, Audi has shown an inability to execute a long-term plan and that has resulted in an aged and increasingly uncompetitive lineup. I think BMW should replace its entire design team, but at least they are able to execute new model introductions and have a more interesting lineup. I've never particularly been a BMW fan or owned one, but there are at least several BMWs I would consider owning, whereas I can't say the same about Audi.

I bought the whole Audi tag line of “Truth In Engineering” as well as the styling, performance, comfort & tech that Audi offered in my S5. However after owning the car for a year and having a lot of that tech “sunsetted” due to poor planning on Audi’s part and then the whole potential of having the rocker arm issue — again, due to poor engineering and seemingly refusal to acknowledge and extend warranties for the cars affected — Audi is off my radar for any new vehicles I might purchase in the future.

As I’ve said before, I still enjoy my S5 and have no plans to voluntarily sell / trade it in, I’m still a “One & Done” Audi customer.

As I previously posted, my MY2024 S4 order has been moved to a MY2025. Sales mgr assured me that it would be a B9.5 & furnished me a copy of the completed order guide. The only change that he was aware of is that the Nav is now standard on the P+

A Redditor spotted the RS 5 Sportback one day before I spotted the Avant, and he posted these images.

Confirms that there are at least two RS 5 Avants benchmark testing in the US as the one I saw had a camoed grille and rear fender.
