greetings...
ive had my sportback for 7 months now.
and in that time ive only seen one other one on the road, and i live in a heavily populated area.
it could be im just missing them, or they just arent out there.
i dont mind i like the fact that my car is all new , and rare , and that was actually a factor in me selecting it.
but in spite of that i was expecting more drivers to feel the way i did, but so far im just not seeing it.
i think so few on the road translates into little or no exposure, and thats not getting drivers attention.
perhaps its still early in the game, and as time goes on the numbers will increase.
the new second generation a7 hits showrooms later this year and that will cut into a5 sb sales.
i know the economy is showing improvement, but i dont know if that is helping new car sales overall among auto makers.
is there any record of model year 2018 audi sales numbers, or specifically a5 sales numbers broken down between coupe, cab, and sb ?

Audi posts their US sales monthly. A5 is all classified as one line item, and sales are >1400 per month in the US, I would guess at least 800 of those are SB if not more so they are selling well for Audi. But spread the ~8-12k (I would guess) that have been sold in the US so far and spread that over 50 states, it's not like there are a ton to be seen out there. I have seen 2 so far in my driving in the bay area of CA.
Audi released their Feb sales figures yesterday and the A5 family is doing very well, thanks mostly to the SB I would guess. https://media.audiusa.com/en-us/releases/229

See sportbacks relatively often up here in the Boston area, Just need to realize that people go in cycles with these cars and it will take 3 years from release for all the people who intend to get one to actually buy it.

thank you for the info
i initially was gonna go with a4.
at that time sales rep informed me if i was willing to wait a few months i might prefer the incoming a5 sb.
i went home checked out some images and did prefer it, and so i waited .
i figured a5 sb would be a good seller right out of the blocks pulling in some from a4 like me ,and a7 those attracted to the sb styling but with significant savings.
that might happen when the new a7 hits showrooms and some compare a5 and a7 stickers. prior to them going in some might not have even known the a5 sb was an option.
