Default Anyone know how the exhaust valves are programmed?

I have a S5 SB bone stock.

I drive 90% of the time in Dynamic Manual.

Ive noticed the exhaust note differing a lot. Sometimes it’s nice and loud, other times very tame. Sometimes nice loud burbbles, other times when I lift the exhaust just tones down slowly.

This evening I was making a quick food run windows down. Slowly accelerating in 1st gear the exhaust was very muted then around 2000 rpm it opened up and projected a nice tone. Shift, same thing in 2nd. Accelerating quickly it seems to just be open.

Anyways, I’m just wondering if anyone here understands how the valves are programmed to respond in different situations.

Thanks 👍🏽

In Dynamic, the flap(s) are open no matter what. It honestly just depends on where you shift. You'll get all sorts of burbles and pops and crackles when you go above 4,000 RPM.

You can also control the exhaust valves with the Engine Sound setting in Drive Select.

That is false. In dynamic mode the flaps open sooner, and more fully more often, but they are not 100% open 100% of the time.

I do not know the exact logic of how they work (so in for the answer) but the above has been proven several times in other threads on the subject.

I think selecting Sport mode will have the valve opened most of the time.
