I think that Dayton 7" would be a good fit in the front door location but I'm concerned it efficiency is too low. This location has to carry a lot of burden and you'll want a high efficiency woofer here.. Another good choice for a lot less money is the Reference 7" aluminum dayton woofer. https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton...Woofer-295-355 and it's 4dB more efficient. Someone else in the forum just recently used this woofer and he was very pleased with it's sound quality.
Great. Thank you for the reply. I will give those a try and see how they sound. Do you know if the Basser MDF mounts will work or will I need something different?

What is the inner diameter of that MDF Basser mount? After you measure that, check the basket size of the RS180 and see if it will drop in. Otherwise you might have to sand the inner edge of the Basser mount a little until the speaker can clear it. The advantage with the MDF mounts is that the mounting lip is quite wide and you have to drill mounting holes anyway.

I think Len used a Metra mount. Let me ask him in his thread and see. Its not uncommon to make modifications to the adapters both plastic and MDF, but both materials are easy to work
"Took the Metra 82-4202 cut the small raised ring off with a backsaw, superglued the Metra 82-9101 to the remaining base. Clamped in a vise to ensure contact. Aligned mounting holes. Let sit overnight. Have to Dremel the tabs and a bit of the inside. Outside rim of Dayton may be 7" but basket is only 5.75'"
Before you go about buying more speaker mounts, just buy the speaker and try it on the Basser mount you have. MDF is easy to work with and my feeling is that you will just need to taper the inside edge a bit for that basket to sink in.
Since the mount lip that actually attaches to the door panel is also MDF, you can use long self tapping screws and attach your speaker to that, if the speaker mounting holes go beyond the mounting face of the Basser speaker.
