Default Cold start during polar vortes

Just curious - how way the cold start experience for the owners in Chicago, Minneapolis etc.? Specially those who do not park in an enclosed garage. Also, how long did it take to get heat blowing through the vents?

My RS5 sits in an unheated detached garage. Other day it was -33F outside and -4F in the garage. Start it up and when goes off fast idle I drive away, mildly of course until it warms up. I have a 6 mile drive to the office and warm air coming out of vents about half way.

That is COLD! Nothing like that in South Jersey - Thankfully. I like cold but Arctic Cold, I'm guessing not so much.

Indy here, not as bad as Chicago, but still pretty cold. The car didn't have any issues with the cold start, I let it idle for a little longer than I normally do before I start driving (1-2 min compared to 30 secs) to make sure the oil was warm enough to flow freely and drove it gently until the operating temperature reached the mid-way mark. The seats warmed up pretty quick like usual, but definitely took a little longer for the warm air to flow and had to increase my heat settings by 5-6 degrees and fan speed by 1-2 notches to get it to the same warmth level I usual like.

The seats and steering wheel heat up pretty quickly.
