Default Driving 2 hours after delivery, any tips?

Guys,

I'm taking delivery tommorow out of town and need to drive back home, the drive is about 150 miles away.

Any tips as far as "breaking in" the engine or does it not matter as to how one drives?

Thanks,

JC

I would:
1. Bed the brakes
2. Keep the RPM under 4k
3. Vary the speed between 45 and 70
4. Have a blast

Even without the hot chick, three other tips:

-- I put the Drive Select in either Comfort or Individual. For Individual, I set most things to Comfort or Auto (except for steering which I have on Dynamic). This will make it easier for you to control yourself and keep the RPMs under 4k. You'll find that in "D", Comfort will aggressively upshift to keep RPMs really low.

-- I put the car in "M" frequently, esp with highway driving, to make it easier for me to vary RPMs by switching to another gear. You want to have a variety of RPMs instead of just constant RPM.

-- If in Individual on Drive Select, you can switch the exhaust to "Dynamic", which is lovely and gives you a little more excitement while you putter around.

When I picked up my A4 in Germany I was told to try and keep the rpm under 3000!

The good news is that the cars are geared so low that 115 mph on the Autobahn is only 2500 rpm.

Congrats and enjoy the drive! (Hot chick or not.)

It's not the speed, its the RPM. 2/3 of the RPM range is 4k. As someone mentioned, the 8 gears are such that you'll easily be under 2k for any normal highway speed in D8.

I don't think you have to worry about this too much, just vary it every so often. That's what I've been doing. I think if you don't run ACC for most of the time its going to be easy to vary speed/RPMs without much thought.
