Default Frustrated - Apple CarPlay

Hi all - I’ve had my A5 Sportback for a week. For the first couple of days, whenever I plugged in my phone, Apple CarPlay worked. Then, I let my son add his phone and his Apple CarPlay worked, too.

Now, mine won’t come up anymore. I’ve deleted his phone, deleted my phone, “forgot” the network for the Audi, restarted my phone, re-paired my phone and STILL no Apple CarPlay when I plug it into the USB cable (which works fine).

Anyone have this this problem or know how to fix it? I tried calling the Audi help line, but they’re only open Mon-Fri. This is so frustrating!

Have you tried a different cable?

Thank you, both. I finally figured it out. There’s a setting in the MMI interface that somehow became unchecked. I clicked it and it brought CarPlay back up. I’m not sure why that selection was unchecked, but at least I know how to fix it if it happens again.

I’m still learning how to use CarPlay with MMI. Not the most intuitive system I’ve seen.

Thanks again!

Carplay as a whole is clunky. Really has nothing to do with the MMI. Case in point, effective yesterday I have a 2019 Jeep Compass as a rental. It has all the bells and whistles. Carplay in it is absolutely atrocious, the menus are not at all intuitive. Took me a solid 5 minutes of trying and retrying just to get my phone to pair lol

The same happens in my Q7. It can take a while. I do think it’s the MMI.

Go to the connection manager, then scroll down to audi smartphone interface and then select your phone again (after it has been plugged in via USB).
