So today I picked up my new (to me) 2018 S4 out of state. The BMW dealer listed it as “Ibis White” (which I always thought was non-metallic (flat) white) but when I got there I realized it’s actually a metallic white. Does this mean it’s actually Glacier White? I love it, but I’m unsure which “white” I got! This wouldn’t be the only specification that was incorrect on the car.

I suggest you look up the sticker that has the paint code on it and look it up to settle it. Not sure of sticker location on your ride, on mine it's under the spare tire in the trunk.

Type your VIN here (if the site isn't down):
Window Stickers: Audi Vin Decoder and Audi Window Sticker Tool - Wikilender

So the confirmation is that it is Glacier White! Nice. I like a metallic white. It has a slight pearlescent finish, not quite Crystal Diamond Tricoat (Cadillac/GM), but close.

I had a 2010 Q7 TDI and currently a 2018 SQ5 in Ibis white. My lady has the Glacier pearl on her 2015 A3 cabriolet. Both are gorgeous. I personally prefer Ibis white since I run my cars through car washes all the time and the white to me is the easiest to keep clean, with unnoticeable paint fade over time (compared to colors like red), and hides swirl marks better vs. black. It will also go longer between detailing e.g. personal wash followed up with Meguiar's Ultimate Compound, Meguiar's Ultimate Polish and Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax to get it looking back to fresh off the showroom floor.
The only caveat is when you have to take it to the shop to repair damage body damage is that the cost to mix the Glacier pearl is about $300 USD more to the total because of the special compounds in the paint used to make the metallic effect. My lady backed into my SQ5 the first week I got it so that's how I know. the paint cost differences between Ibis white and Glacier pearl because I reviewed the damage invoices for both cars from Caliber Collision body shop. Ibis white comes out ahead in lower cost to repair.
