Default Homelink Receiver - successfully programmed (FINALLY)

I decided to start a new thread on this issue as it seems to have affected so many of us; I was FINALLY successful in programming Homelink with my Prestige Coupe, to the Chamberlain opener with the dreaded purple learn button that uses the same frequency (315MHz) as the Audi key fob.

Try this:
1) open the door with the key, press the start button (accessory only, do not start the car)
2) leave the car door open and walk away with the key until you hear several dings (15-20 ft. - signifies the key is out of range, leave the key there. The idea is that now the frequency the key is emitting no longer interfere's with try to program the opener that uses the same frequency.
3) return to your car and go through the programming steps, worked immediately for me!

I really hope this works for most of you, as its been a frustrating issue to solve!

This will be awesome if it solves the problem. Let me ask you how is the range once you programmed the system? I was able to pair the Homelink system to the garage, but I have to be in the driveway before the system will actually open/close the garage door.

I can't tell you the exact distance, but it seems to have the same distance as my Macan, at least several 50-100 feet away.

AZAudiFan, Thanks for the recommendation, but it didn't work for me. I have a Craftsman opener with the purple button/antennae

Well, shortly after I got the car programmed, my garage door started opening on its own. This happened several times throughout the next day; the garage door industry calls it "phantom openings". So I cleared the programming from the drive unit by pushing the learn button until the signal light went out, and reprogrammed my remote. Of course this also wiped out the Homelink programming, and much to my frustration, I cannot get Homelink to program again. Gremlins have taken over!

Oh man, that sucks. I wonder how that could happen with the car off since in the cars sold in the USA, the Homelink system has no power to it when the car is off.
