Default How do I lock my car with the AC running?

Last time I tried it I think the car auto shut off itself. My 2007 Nissan Versa has the IntelliKey and it allows me to lock the car with the engine running.

You need to enable locking while the car is running with Vagcom/obd11

Youve never been able to lock an Audi with the car running (at least in the recent 10 years) from the factory, always a mod.

Have you tried locking it with the actual key (not the fob)? I had to do that with my Honda (for the heater), but I haven't tried it with the A5.

This is the way to do it. You can also exit the car with the car running and the drivers window open, close the door, reach in and press the lock button, then pull the window switch auto up and accomplish the same thing. Just keep in mind you will need the metal key in the drivers outside door lock to unlock the door when you try to get back in because the key fob and keyless entry will be disabled with the engine running.

I saw in the Q5 forum something about that. So I will try that next time - Leave the fob in the car then lock the car with the mechanical key.

I wouldn’t leave the fob in the car. Take both the key and fob with you using one of the methods listed above.

By not leaving the fob in the car, wouldn't the car auto shut off itself? Maybe it will behave differently once it's locked. I'll have to try it out.

The one feature I love on my 2015 Volvo XC60 that my wife’s A5 doesn’t have..... the ability to start the car from my phone. It does a configuration check of the vehicle verifying windows up, doors locked, hood shut, nobody in seats, etc etc. it will only stay started for 15 mins max. Works out great to cool down car on a hot summer day or vice versa.

BMW and Audi both told me German manufactures don’t do that because someone died... bla bla

But both Viper and Compustar have after-market solutions that will do exactly the same thing as your wife’s Volvo. I have the Compustar solution installed in my current Acura and it works perfectly.

The engine will stay running with the fob out of the car, but you might want to have the auto stop feature shut off when you do this. I don’t think it would make a difference, but better to be safe rather than sorry.
