Just for fun, try swapping the batteries in the two FOBs. Sometimes new batteries, just aren't new.

Having this problem too on my Q8. The red LED lights up just fine when a button is pushed. Thoughts? Not sure how to tell if the battery compartment is properly seated.

I had the same issue last week on my A4. I took the battery out a couple times and replaced it back in. That seemed to work. No more warning.

Last night I tried some of the tricks mentioned here:
  • windows up and down
  • reseating the battery
  • another new battery.
The warning however remained. Then this morning, when I went out for bagels for breakfast, it was gone. Easter miracle apparently.

It's the new AIS system testing your resolve

I'm having the exact same issue on my Q8.
Tried multiple batteries.
Switched battery with working FOB.
Re-seated battery compartment cover.
Used all FOB functions repeatedly (lock/unlock, open windows, hatch, etc.)
Message still appears.

UPDATE: I was able to clear the warning using OBDeleven. After doing so, I did notice something that may be a clue:
The FOB that worked fine (no message) was not associated with any profile.
The FOB that I normally use, and have a profile for, worked after I cleared the fault.
Not sure if it's even related, but I thought it might be a clue. Maybe delete profiles?

But did you delete your profile from the fob you normally use (that gave you the battery errors) or just use the OBD Eleven to clear the errors in your Q8?

I just used the OBDeleven to clear faults. I realized after that happened that I had a profile associated only with the "problem" fob, and wondered if deleting the profile earlier would have fixed it too.

Default simple but it worked

Suddenly saw 'change key fob battery' display. Did replace battery after great struggle to access battery try. With new battery msg remained.
In following forum suggestion:
open doors
lower raise window
open close trunk

msg gone.

From my notes:

Replaced with Duracell Alkaline CR2032-3v
- Voltage when new 3.25 volts.

Old batteries were both 2.90 volts (with voltmeter, but with "no load on it" of course)
I kinda doubt true voltage (under the load of running the fob) is near that.

Easy to replace. Did both fob's for this vehicle. Did not have to re-program/re-link.
