From my notes:
Replaced with Duracell Alkaline CR2032-3v
- Voltage when new 3.25 volts.
Old batteries were both 2.90 volts (with voltmeter, but with "no load on it" of course)
I kinda doubt true voltage (under the load of running the fob) is near that.
Easy to replace. Did both fob's for this vehicle. Did not have to re-program/re-link.

I agree, very simple to replace. The "key" here (npi) is to replace them before the car alerts you to; that way you don't have to jump through all the Audi Rings! (hoops).
If new to replacing the remote batteries, Nikon1 posted the tools and procedure, it was spot on! A quick search should find it.

Hi,
I have a 2016 Audi A3 2.0 and have started to have the same problem. No matter how many battery's I change the warning light comes on. I've noticed that it only happens now when I open and close a door while the car is running or lower my windows while driving. The weird thing is if I press and hold any button on the key fob while driving the warning goes away, but will then come back if I do one of the two things mentioned above. Since I can do everything else with the car I presume it is the system picking up the radio transmission from the key and that'd I'd need a new antenna or receiver.
Has anyone had this problem before and had to replace the fob or antennas in the car?
Thanks!

Does it happen with both key-fobs?
Are you sure you are replacing with max-perfect Duracell CR2032 3-volt Lithium batteries?
- Voltage when new should be 3.25 volts with a meter.

Had the same thing happen last month. Dealer told me it goes away in a few car start up cycles, sure enough it went away after the 2nd day (roughly 5-6 car starts worth)

Adding my experience as well. Coin cell that was low was about 2.9V measured on a multimeter. New cell was about 3.2V. It kept complaining even after the swap but went away the next day (probably after 2 or 3 restarts). Didn't get to try the window down trick, but seems to me that it just takes time to clear by itself.

Just replaced my battery two weeks ago and the warning disappeared immediately. One thing I learned in the process is the keyfob LED stops operating when its battery is too low. If your keyfob LED turns on with key presses, then the issue is the car. If not, it's the keyfob.

Since we can't really check the batteries "under-load" (I wish we easily could) that is why I always mention the voltages we ARE able to get. Pretty sure, un-loaded 2.9v is more like 2.6 volts under load and the Milliamps are undetermined (but low, even with a perfect-and-brand-new CR2032).

Found this forum discussion on a web search for the issue of the Audi "key fob battery warning won't go away". In my case this occurred on my 2021 Audi Q7 after installing a new Duracell 2032 3V battery after getting the warning originally and not going away with the new battery install.......finally I cycled through a few ignition start ups as well as locking unlocking doors and lift gate, waited overnight and the battery warning finally went away......
