Default Motor Mounts

Hey All. Just took my A5 in for annual service. At 27k miles my motor mounts are failing??. 2019 A5 Prestige with less than 28k miles. Does that sound normal?

Thanks.

Nothing surprises me with these B9s.

i was somewhat shocked at the quoted price to fix them. $2k. That makes me think perhaps they aren't replacing the motor mounts. They are fixing a seal or something else but not the motor mounts themselves.

Discuss. lol

The price seems reasonable for a dealership. The mounts alone are $560 msrp, figure another $90 for the related replace if removed bolts and other materials. Something like $150 sales tax? So that's $1200 labor and fees. So billing four hours? Probably only takes two. But you pay book rate, not actual, when it benefits them. I'd source the OE parts for under $500 and just replace them myself. But that depends on your DIY resources. And I certainly couldn't do them first time in two, or probably even four, hours. With all the drink and snack breaks mandated by my labor contract in my own garage.

I had to get mine done on our 2018 A5, and while I did the job at an independent garage the parts were sourced from Audi. Apparently these are only sold in pairs. And so even though only 1 was failing on our car, both had to be replaced. I also noticed that the part number was a revision and so hopefully the new part will last longer than the one that was fitted in the factory.

How are the mounts failing? Are you taking them at their word, or have you noticed an issue?

I have a '19 with about 10k more miles and no issues.

My garage told me that they could see oil starting to leak from one of them. But he said it wasn't enough for an inspection failure etc. The car is a daily driver for my wife, so I just got them changed.
I wonder if the garages have a list of "popular" part failures and they go looking for them.

They said the same thing to me that they did Bruce. Little hydraulic fluid was leaking as they showed in a video but they didn't say it was Needed. Just an item to that needs to be repaired sometime soon. Don't know how this isn't a warranty repair.

For the number that seem to be happening, how is this not a recall? I would say this was definitely a warranty replacement though.

Unless you bought an extended warranty or you purchased it after June of 2020, there’s a good chance your 2019 has run out of the 4 year Audi Factory warranty.
