Thanks for clarifying my post guys. I hope I’m not sounding too crabby. I just don’t understand how two safety items (door lights and emergency triangle) which are required in Europe are any less needed now than when they were included as standard a few years ago. Cost to Audi is easily under $15.
Back to our regularly scheduled discussion on keeping engine bay clean with covers......
Would covering the ECU have any impact on cooling ?
I've had my ECS ECU cover on for 5 months, live in a relatively hot climate (100 every day in the summer) and it has ZERO impact on cooling. The cover sits above the cooling fins or heat sink, so air does get in. The S5 has the warmest engine bay I've ever seen, still no problems.
See the bulge on the top of the cover that is for rigidity and airflow.
1st: Thanks for this post, these side and ECU covers look awesome and I’m 100% in!
2nd: Your car looks great, congrats and good luck
3rd: I wonder if all of these these pieces can be wrapped in a good 3M or better carbon fiber? (I’ve been wondering if I could wrap a few things, like the hood latch panel...)
Cheers!

EDIT: If you're referring to the puddle lights on the doors, mine came with them. They shine "Audi Sport" on the ground when you open the doors. Kind of neat, but also kind of "Look at me!". I'm not sure how I feel about them.
If you decide to remove them, shoot me a PM. I would like to put them on my rear doors. i would be happy to send you the light or whatever is in mine now so you could wouldn't have to buy new ones.
ECS ECU (lots of initials there — sorry) came yesterday as did several new Apple products so the cover project was this afternoon, after the engine cooled down.
My Installation Report:
Actual elapsed time from walking into the garage to walking back into the house — 9 minutes, 4 of which were finding my T-Bits box & the correct T-bit (T27) to use!
Now just waiting for the engine bay covers to arrive.
My thanks again to the members who posted these add-on, finishing pieces!

---------------------------- About the ECS ECU cover. On Audizine many members with the RS5 report that their ECU gets very hot and won't install the cover. In contrast out ECU gets warm but not hot,I have had zero issues with the cover.
Sharing this info incase you read about the cover on Audizine. In fact when I open the hood after a spirited drive the ECU cover is the coolest part of the engine bay, all the other components under the hood are quite warm/hot.

I bet not a single one of them actually did a series of temperature measurements with and without the cover...however, I did and there is practically no difference in temps.
