Wondering why everyone is even putting the phone on the dash. Didn't everyone know that the box in the armrest has a repeater that boosts the signal to the Shark Fin antenna? And when it is plugged in to the box it goes into Carplay or Android Auto anyway. Where you can also even use the MMI to read texts and Navigate using the bigger screen. And when plugged in the car will remind you on exit that the phone is in there if still plugged in.

I believe phone box was offered in markets outside of NA in 2018. But yes, it’s part of MY19 NA A5 and variants. Seems cool, but without wireless CarPlay, etc its less cool (to me)

The "Repeater" center console is in my 2018 S5 Sportback that was built July 25th 2017. As for Wireless Carplay/Android Auto it will use and need power anyway for long trips, so you need to plug it in there anyway. The Repeater has the USB 1 and USB 2 connections in the center console, not by the 12v Receptacle.
