I used to do a 3 bucket method but I am lazy. I do have one for the car and one for wheels though. I have yet to mess a car finish up... I use high quality microfiber wash mitts and use a grit guard in the bucket. If you are only going to have two buckets, definitely do not mix wheels and paint. Or use the paint one for wheels after you have thoroughly washed the car and do not plan to wash any painted surfaces again...
