Hey guys, I saw a retrofit on this forum of ambient lights into a 2 door A5 (B9.5). Has anyone had any success or know where one can buy kits to retrofit color ambient lights into A5 4 door sportback? I have the premium plus where I only have the basic white lights but I would love to have them in color just like the prestige version.

Hahahha.. right but there are so many kits out there. Do you know if A4 B9 kit will work for 2021 A5?

it's going to be a suck it and see, situation. Aliexpress vendors call them Atmosphere lights. The interior doesn't seem dissimilar to the B9, so it should work from a trim/panel pov. What I have no idea about is whether the door modules where these lights plug in have changed or not.
These lights are intelligent little things. Each one of them has their own individual LIN Bus address and that is how the car can send different colours to different areas, even though they are all powered using the same wires.
As a result some Aliexpress kits will result in a load of errors in the fault log. Everything appears to work as normal though. The reason being, they send you the cheapest unit in the kit, which is not necessarily the right one. I.e. Drivers and Passenger side lights have different part numbers, associated with their LIN addresses. But in some Aliexpress kits you will just get two Passenger sides, they look the same, the operate the same, but then the car complains because it cannot see a Drivers side light..

So this is not a matter of the lights already being in the car and something that a ecu flash couldn't fix to enable that feature?

Let me tell you from someone who has ambient lighting already: this is not a particularly useful or super cool feature. Standard white lighting is actually the best match for an understated Audi interior. You're better off spending money on something like the genuine puddle lights, those are way easier to install.

I can do you one better. I do a kit with genuine puddle lights and then an extension cable that allows you to reuse your redundant white puddle light with a Red LED module, which is included. The end result is. All this for cheaper than buying just the OEM projectors from the dealer.
