Default Roof rack

Anybody experienced or fitted a roof rack.

More interested in for the Sportback?

I'm looking toward Thule. But they don't have anything listed yet.

TY

Ahah, no, it's for the bikes. Don't need extra storage bin... It's a sportback. Way more space than the front glovebox on lambo's

I am very interested in this as well. Love the Sportback but have kids and ski alot and we use a long Thule rocket box for carrying all our gear. With the frameless windows potentially being tricky w the roff rack fitment, I'm avoiding buying the car until I can figure out how to get my box and bike cariiers up there. Also curious how the back hatch would interfere w the box when mounted.

I don't see much problem frameless windows. The Owner's manual shows mounting point

Yes - Audi makes roof racks for the A5 SB - here is their European accessories catalog:

The Audi branded bars look a bit awkward to me...they seem disproportionately tall. I loved my Whispbars that I had on my Golf R. They are aerodynamic, quiet, and have a very low profile.

Undortunately niether Whispbar (made by Yakima) nor Thule (who makes the similar Aerobar) have a fitment for the 5 SB that I can find anywhere.

Has anyone had luck with a non-audi rack?

They must be tall because of the sunroof, no?

2018 S4 owner here. i have a Thule Aeroblade setup with the 480R feet. It is truly great: extremely well built, looks clean and stylish, has a T-track for accessory/rack attachments, and installs/removes in about 5 minutes.

Unfortunately, this system doesn't have fitments for the S5 yet.

The frameless window design of the A5 is not necessarily a fitment problem as someone else said, but it probably does mean that your rack fitment options will likely be limited to high end brands like Thule only due to this design aspect. Expect to spend around $550 or so just for the towers and cross bars, that is, once fit kits are finally released for the new A5 and A5 sportback. Technically you can save a little money by getting square bars instead of aero, but only $75-100 or so and I doubt you'll want to cheap out on that for such a nice car.

Im not worried about the cost as much as the look. I'll go to one of the rack specialist stores in town and see if they have any ideas or insight into when a fitment might be available. I just really dislike the look of the Audi
