I would always double-check the under-hood label for the oil spec. The newest cars get a new 0W20 oil meeting VAG spec 508.00/509.00. You're not going to find this oil at the corner store.

Yep, the dealers have it for about $8.75 per quart.

My B9 S5 does NOT have a dip stick, NOR does it have a dip stick hole. So if yours does please tell me why mine doesn't and how I can use an oil extractor using that non-exsistent hole.

Thank you Sir for this information and the pictures. I found it! I stand corrected. However, I won't have to use this information for about four years as I got my dealer to include Audi Care as part of the deal. Four years from now is another matter. Thanks Again!!

I will now check with the service department to see if there is dip stick/"tool" available to double check the oil level.

I'm not sure how different the S5's 3.0T engine is.
The first time I did it this way, I'd also pull the drain plug to see if it missed anything.
Or, before buying, drop a long rod into the hole until it stops, then measure the height of the top end. Pull it out, hold over garage floor at same height and see how close to the floor the bottom end is. If it's the same height as the oil pan bottom, then it's ok, If higher, then it won't drain it all.
