So it's encrypted. That's why I only saw nonsense when viewed with a text editor. I thought that VWAG parameterization files are XML files. Anyway, I am not a software guy, so I am here to learn. It'd be great to get the matrix lights enabling files somewhere.
Hello, can someone knowledgeable on the subject tell me if it would be possible to create a script to be able to install the sports layout sphere from an SD in the red menu of the MMI? I understand that if we are able to update the VC itself via the SD in the red menu, it should be possible to include the necessary files to be able to install the sports layout sphere. I don't have ODIS and don't want to pay €35.98 for 200 credits in OBD11 at the moment.
All the best
So far the SD card method is only able to alter datasets on the MMI 5F unit itself.
The sports layout needs to amend the dataset on the VC unit, which no one has worked out yet how to achieve via the MMI.
ELM327, VCP, ODIS and ODB11 like dongles have access to the various buses via the gateway and hence are able to alter datasets in most bus connected modules.
This website indicates how to install the sport layout from SD but in vehicles FPK2 Audi A6/A7/A8/Q8, https://www.drive2.ru/b/637736536393130752
that's why I thought it could be done in the others...
I'm also seeing that maybe I can do it via USB to Ethernet dongle and telnet into the MMI.
Keep investigating
I'll tell you my experience in case it helps someone:
I was investigating a way to install the S/RS dial on my A4 Allroad B9 in the most economical way possible. At the moment you can:
1) OBD11, those who do not have credits will have to pay the €35.98 that the 200 credits cost to activate the sphere.
2) ODIS-E I understand what the cable costs and with a free script valid for it.
3) Super Mini ELM327 Bluetooth V1.5 (€7.53 shipping included) and the free Car scanner mobile application (if you want the PRO version it costs €5.49 forever).
Well to the mess:
The way to activate it with car scanner is:
1) If the vehicle is an MQB, from the car scanner application itself there is automatic coding as obd11 does.
2) If the vehicle is MLB-EVO (as is my case) it is created manually following the steps in the PDF.
In my car I updated the VC to H17 0379 from the MMI, I understand that it is necessary for it to work, check your versions.
I also updated the mmi to 1329 just in case, let's say it works with those versions.
I got the Car scanner thing from the Russian forum and the elm I risked working and it did, they say that it does NOT work with all the elms... read this carefully https://www.carscanner.info/choosing-obdii-adapter /#
It worked for me with the alie*pre** playing it....
The dial change is great, I like it much more than the standard one...
Before doing anything, read everything carefully just in case... everyone already knows what they should do...
Just to add "CARISTA OBD- Bluetooth Scanner" is a branded ELM dongle that works fine. Just don't use the Carista software but instead use the Car Scanner mobile app.
Question: Once you code the sports layout. How do you go back to the normal layout without recoding?

Hello, from the steering wheel itself it can be done with the left selection keys, it allows you to select the classic dial or the sport dial.
