Uneven Boot Cover S5 Convertible
Any help from the forum is much appreciated! I'm trying to figure out why the boot cover is uneven, there no obstructions, its not bothersome, no performance degradation or whistling noticed, just cosmetic as far as I know.
Heres a picture for comparison on the other side (passenger)

The left / driver's side is way out of alignment. It looks like a non-Audi!
Most likely there is an issue with the left side hydraulic cylinder for the roof compartment lid (what you are calling the boot cover). There are clips at either end, maybe something is loose? It is possible there is an issue with the cylinder, and it is not completely retracting. In which case, it would need to be replaced.

yes, I apologize, its not a boot cover. The audi dealer here in town thought it was one of the stabilizers or bushings, but ill have them check the hydraulics, that would make more sense, although it does functionally work well, doesnt leak... its just not seated well.

As someone with a '18 B9 S5 whom has had the top replaced under warranty I'd suggest taking the car to a soft top specialist because that's what my dealer did when my top was replaced. The dealer didn't have the expertise or experience to deal with it.

A place that replaces tops are really upholsterers who are familiar with all the cables and clips that hold on a modern soft top. But how the actual top operates with all its limit switches etc, is really Audi-specific. You just need to find a dealer tech or indy tech who has actually worked on tops. But personally, I'd look at it myself first. I doubt it's a hydraulic lift issue unless that panel raises or lowers too slow or is noisy. It's probably something simple about the latch mechanism itself. I would open that panel and look very carefully at both sides and compare them. Look at how it is supposed to latch, and then see if you can figure out why it's not doing the same thing on both sides.
