I already did this, and they gave me some cryptic instructions, which also don't work.
- swap sim card
- put paper clip into pinhole 3 times within 30 seconds.
They refuse to help me further, saying I need to go to an installer...
Just wondering how everyone else got their sims working without an installer

You get the SIM directly from FirstTech. It’s pre-activated by FirstTech and works every time.

Ok I found a procedure online and got it working. For anyone else that runs into this issue, try this:
Note: The X1MAX has a battery backup, so when you unplug it, it will not power off. I had to wait 30 minutes for it to power off.
1. Unplug Drone
2. Remove AT&T SIM
3. Install Verizon SIM
4. Get a paper clip or something just as small
5. On the side opposite of the cables, find the little pin hole just big enough for a paper clip towards the top side of the Drone. This is a reset button. Stick the paper clip in and you should feel a click, then you'll know you have the right spot. Release the button.
6. Turn vehicle on (I had mine running when I did this)
7. Plug the Drone back in
8. Within 10 seconds of plugging it in press the little reset button 2 short times and then press and hold for about 15 seconds on the third press. So the button order is Click, click, hold - 12-15 seconds.
9. Release the button
10. After about 60 seconds to 3 minutes you should see the red power light go solid and the LTE and GPS lights return to normal. It should now be activated!
