What is the best way to make sure your local friendly mechanic knows about jack mode? I have a good indy for the mechanical stuff but I have to get new tires and am scared to death about bringing it to a tire shop. Do most major tire shops (Sears NTB ect) know enough about these cars to put them in Jack mode? The problem is you never get to speak with the guy doing the work, just the guy at the front desk.

and talk directly to the mechanic and insure that he knows what is up. 90% of the the time they are clueless unless I am at an Audi indy shop or the stealership.

I leave a printed a note headed "CAUTION" in large letters which mentions air suspension and jacking mode basic instructions and references the owner manual page, which I also leave on the seat. Then of course I tell the counter person, and if possible the mechanic. Given all that I don't think great harm gets done. I tell them it's a safety thing so as no potential height adjusting while car is up.
