Hi all,
We had an 2003 A6 3.0 quattro in with the abs code 01119 "Gear recognition signal" after talking to the customer he had previously been to a fast fit centre for an MOT and they had had to fit two outer cv gaiters to both side front drive shafts,

When taking it apart to check every thing was ok, i noticed that the centre cv bolt (the one that goes though the hub) was not really that tight?? useally FT!! so reassembled it and torqued the bolt up to the correct setting!

M14 bolt = 115nm + 180 degrees
M16 bolt = 190nm + 180 degrees

Clear the fault code and took it for a road test and everything was ok and all the symtoms had gone, two weeks have gone past and everything is still ok!!!!!!

Just thought this might be worth a try??
good luck
