Default Is the 02 AR less reliable than the 01 AR?

I have read the Consumer Reports and they rate the 2002 A6 less reliable than the 01. It shows the power equipment, brakes and conv. equipment as **** poor-solid black (lowest ranking possible). Is there more issues prone to the 02's?

Default Read into it what you want...

Take a look at their 2003 ratings:

With the exception of Electrical (good rating), Brakes (good rating) and Power Equipment (fair rating) every other category gets very good or excellent ratings...yet they still give it an overall worse-than-average reliability...

With these cars...you can get one from a "poorly" rated model year and have no problems and you can get one from a "highly" rated model year and have constant issues...it's luck of the draw my friend.

P.S. Electrical and brakes get a poor rating for the 2002 models...not power equip, brakes and conv. equip...per their website.

Default The size of the dataset is small for the A6, so sample results are easily skewed.

Reliability for the '01 - 05' C5-based vehicles should be quite similar as there are few changes from year to year.

Default Re: Consumer Reports is VERY biased against Audi

Thanks everyone. I don't take to much to heart on the Reports, but do like to use it as a source for information.

Default Consumer Reports is OK for fish sticks, etc,

But not always knowledgeable re automobiles. I spent 30 years in the consumer electronics industry and I know of many instances they gave "best buy" ratings to products that had been discontinued for poor sales.. Also know of a few instances where mfgrs reintroduced products after getting a favorable review. They weild an inordinate amount of power which is , IMHO, often undeserved.....
