I just bought an AR and of course the engine mounts are bad. Has anyone out there installed the cheaper solid A6 8D0 199 379AT engine mounts in their AR rather than the hydraulic 4B0 199 379AB AR mounts?

All Audi motor mounts are hydraulic. If you use a mount from a light motor, it'll simply fail sooner.
Your best bet would be to use a mount from a heavier, more powerful motor, and you'll get a motor mount that will last considerably longer.
You might also consider some aftermarket mounts like our Stern brand. They're ~$105ea, and come with a lifetime warranty.

I have a set of two engine mounts taken out of my stage 3 car that I drove on for about 500 miles, if that. They were too soft for the car so I replaced them with stern mounts. One is missing the rubber cover but you can re-use the old one just fine.
I will sell them for 1/2 of what new ones cost.
Thanks.
